Outdoors NorthWest Features North Central Washington

The magazine Outdoors NW has recently had some great articles about North Central Washington.

In the article Warm and Cozy Nordic Lodges Craig Ramano outlines some of the best places to stay in Washington during the winter, including the Freestone Inn, Leavenworth’s Sleeping Lady, and more. With so many great things to do here in the winter you’re definitely going to need a place to nestle down.

Craig also spotlights the hiking around Blewett Pass with a nod to 3 of the best trails – Swauk Forest Discovery Trail, Naneum Meadow, and Mount Lillian. If hiking is your thing you won’t want to miss these great destinations!

Lastly the magazine highlights one of the greatest small towns in America – Wenatchee Washington. Outdoors NW calls Wenatchee “A magnet for outdoor enthusiasts” With a plethora of whitewater, road biking, hiking, mountain biking and paddling options, we’re inclined to agree. Outdoors NW talks with Andy Dappen of Wenatchee’s popular outdoor site www.WenatcheeOutdoors.org to get the lowdown on all the best outdoor recreation.

Wenatchee World Editor Likes E3NCW Concept!

Rufus Woods, editor and publisher of the Wenatchee World, is raving about E3!

In a recent article he explained a little more about the purpose of E3:

Here’s how it’s supposed to work. They’ll recruit 10 people from the region who are already going to the Olympics and who are willing to be ambassadors. They will form the E3 Army, according to Korfiatis and Granstrom. Armed with a brightly colored hat, trading pins, brochures and a free video camera, they’ll look for opportunities to encourage Olympic visitors to travel south and see what this area has to offer.

Biking on the Devil

The Seattle Times’ Mike McQuaide recently wrote about his trip down Devil’s Gulch – “the trail Northwest mountain bikers swoon about.” McQuaide writes:

According to many sources, the Devils Gulch Trail, just outside Cashmere, is one of the top — if not the top — mountain bike rides in Washington. Hard-packed single track, a spectacular Central Cascade setting, long sweeping turns, and crazy-fast switchbacks (on the descent) are just a few of its calling cards.
